Magnetic storms might interfere with GPS signals

This came up a while ago during the American Geophysical Union annual meeting in San Francisco and might indicate that it will be better if you keep your internal compass in working conditions when GPS signals start to get affected by changes in the plasmasphere or "plasma cloud surrounding Earth above the ionosphere" by solar activity.
